Advice That Your Dog Will Give Two Paws Up

There are many different types of pets to choose from. You could bring home a bird or a lizard, a gerbil or a cat. However, the number one choice made by people continues to be a dog. This piece illustrates proper dog care methods.

If you’re taking your dog on a trip, be sure that you have a recent picture of them on-hand. This ensures that, should he get lost, you have a current photo, ready for showing around or being used in flyers.

Reward your dog for doing right things, such as sitting while you place it’s food down, with lots of praise and attention. You need your dog to realize that you’re proud of their behavior and want to see it more often. It teaches the dog that he gets praised when he does what you’d like him to do.

Talk to your vet about how much your dog should eat. While there are those that feed their dog whatever it says on the package, this may not be good for your dog and can make it overweight. The vet will know what is best for your pet.

Don’t ever give your dog bones. Bones can fall apart and become lodged between teeth or digestive system. Also, rawhide is better for the health of your dog’s teeth.

If you have an outdoor pet, build a shelter for him or buy one that is ready to use. Adverse weather conditions can be detrimental to your pooch, causing illnesses, anxiety and poor behaviors. Give him a place that has dry floors and a lot of room.

Acquiring a dog for the first time is a huge deal, but you will be able to handle it. Keep learning about dogs and keep finding out as much as you can. It will be an interesting read, and you will know how to better care for your pet.
